I am very comfortable with the idea that my surroundings are an abiotic environment. It is this environment that allows me to thrive. While life on earth is pretty darn good, it is far from perfect. The planet is mostly water, and we are pretty much surrounded by water that is both salty and dry. The air we breathe is also a very salty and dry environment. So, I suppose you could say that it is pretty much perfect for me, but not for the rest of the world.
Well, that’s an interesting thought; but it’s also an intriguing one. I think the idea that our planet is an abiotic environment is one of the reasons why we are so good at surviving in the wild. It is this environment that allows us to adapt to environmental change; that allows us to evolve into new species. abiotic is a funny word. It means the “abiotic” in the sense that it is not completely composed of inorganic materials. In the case of our planet, abiotic means that the air is in and the water is out. In the case of our planet, our water is out and our air is in. There’s a big difference between abiotic and biotic. For the Earth, the abiotic is all the water that isn’t the Earth, the frozen water. We have all of this water on our planet though, with all kinds of plants and animals living in it, and it isn’t always in the “right” place. But the Earth is a pretty good example of an abiotic. We are not alone.

There are bacteria and algae that live in the Earth and so on. Some of them are so microscopic that they are not seen by the human eye. However, most of the Earth’s life is microscopic. So the water is out, the air is in, and the land is in.
It’s interesting that in such a perfect environment, the first thing to die is the water. The water is a very easy target because it has water molecules that are all connected. So when water gets into a cell, the water molecules that were in the water before the cell was made (and therefore have no water molecules to connect them) link up with the water molecules in the cell and start to form a water crystal.
A similar process happens when the air gets in. Air molecules are connected to water molecules and form a water crystal. Which is why I have a thing for plants. They tend to look like really cool plants. They also tend to be less toxic. For someone who has the tendency to spray their plants with chemicals, it’s nice to have a plant-shaped bottle of wine.
There are always new techniques in the scientific world. Just this week, scientists have developed a new way of making glass, and next it will be a way of making ceramics. It seems that in the future, people will be able to make their own food, which will be much more expensive.
